Classes at Academia de Bachata are free for Dominican Residents under 18 years old.

We are based in Cabarete, Puerto Plata, and offer classes in guitar, bass, saxophone, piano, voice and percussion between 10 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

For individuals: We offer private classes in guitar, bass, bongo, güira, and tambora. We can arrange anything from a single class to semester courses for beginner to advanced level.

For groups: We offer workshops in bachata and merengue musicality, live concerts with dancing, and can also arrange for dance classes.

The Academia’s touring ensemble offers live performances and masterclasses on Dominican music. We present at school assemblies, in classrooms, concert halls, and cultural centers. Since 2018, we have engaged with live audiences of over 13,000 children and adults in the US and the Dominican Republic. We showcase the traditional styles of bachata and merengue and provide audience members an opportunity to immerse themselves in the genres and their traditions.
